About Craig Barker

Experience Comes from Practice

As a former professional musician and manager, Craig is familiar with all aspects of the music and entertainment business, and its complex legal issues.

Craig Barker is a trusted attorney and advisor to businesses and creators in Austin's signature industries of entertainment, digital media, and health technology. Craig's experience with negotiating contracts involving intellectual property for creators and rights holders, and those acquiring rights for businesses, gives him an uncommonly balanced perspective. He understands how to work with management in order to frame deals creatively, as well as how to manage disputes and protect rights in the court system. Craig enjoys live music, and dancing and traveling with his wife (who sometimes allows him to join her for parts of the study-abroad programs she leads as a global business professor). Craig and his wife also enjoy spending time with –- and trying their best to keep up with -- their grown "children" and grandchildren.

Craig has experience as counsel for emerging businesses, handling diverse needs that include:

  • Entity formation;
  • Trademark and copyright registration;
  • Service and vendor contracts and relationships;
  • Entity/corporate governing documents;
  • Security/privacy issues;
  • Employment agreements for officers and key personnel;
